Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most often, answered in plain language.

Does SuranceGuard sell insurance?

No. We publish educational content only. We don't sell policies, take commissions or refer you to carriers.

How much coverage do I actually need?

Enough to cover a loss you couldn't absorb yourself. For liability, that usually means limits at least equal to your net worth; for life insurance, a multiple of income that covers dependents' needs.

Is a higher deductible always cheaper?

It lowers your premium, but only pays off if you can comfortably cover the deductible in cash. Compare annual savings against the extra out-of-pocket exposure.

Will filing a claim raise my rates?

Often yes for at-fault or repeated claims. For small losses close to your deductible, the long-term premium increase can exceed the payout.

What should I do if a claim is denied?

Request the denial in writing with the specific policy language cited, file an internal appeal, then escalate to external review or your state insurance department.

Can I switch insurers mid-policy?

Usually yes. Most insurers refund unused premium, though some charge a cancellation fee. Never cancel before the new policy is active.
